My background in dance (often quietly) underpins all of my work~
I have maintained an active artistic practice for many years and consistently find it to be revitalizing and inspiring. The sensitivity and exploration of possibility, awareness and choice I cultivate in my dance practice are foundational to my work in the healing arts. Even though my work with many clients doesn’t touch “dance” directly in our sessions, they are getting the subtle transmission of embodied awareness that comes from working with a highly trained mover. From thousands of hours of practice, I can see and feel where movement is blocked and can find the way towards more flow and integration through the body, whether that’s via touch, movement, or a somatic awareness exercise.
Over the years, I have trained hundreds of people in the Triangle in Contact Improvisation, a dance form based on improvised interaction with touch and weight sharing and a profound study of relationship, mutuality, and co-creation. I also have a longtime practice of Authentic Movement, and Contemplative Dance Practice~ practices that highlight inner listening and witnessing of self and other.
Some people who work with me individually enjoy having sessions include Contact Improvisation and other movement practices alongside the hands-on work and somatic coaching~ often it’s folks who have taken some public movement classes and want to go deeper. Others who have never studied CI might still want to lean into an expressive embodiment as part of their healing work. For others, the dance is more subtle and is quietly and happily in the background…
