What Clients are Saying…

Bodywork at the intersection of mental health~

Toni is an absolutely incredible bodyworker! It’s clear she has so much knowledge and takes so much time and care in cultivating a holistic experience for her clients. In our first session together I almost felt as if through her hands she could feel deeply into every cell and every trauma my body had ever experienced, which at first felt intense and foreign, until my body realized it was actually being deeply seen on a level that I hadn’t ever experienced prior. I initially came to her practice following an acute injury that was being managed alongside my PT. Not only did she work with me help address my initial injury but was also able to correct and help rework other patterns (in my gait, feet and toes) that had been present since birth. Since working with her, my PT, friends and loved ones have all commented on the shift in my feet/toes/lower body, and how they can tell I’m more rooted and centered. I’m so thankful for Toni’s dedication and guidance to walk alongside me in this healing journey. — L, Yoga Teacher, Birth Doula

Toni and I have been working together for most of this year. I went to her for persistent neck and spine issues that over time had led to a broader physical imbalance and to an array of pains and frustrations, all of which were impairing not only my work, but also my ability to think and create. Over time, her approach to movement and structural awareness has helped me eliminate pains that have been problematic for over a decade, but more importantly, given me the tools I need to manage physical and mental stresses in the moment. The treatment has become prevention. She has an exceptional understanding of anatomy and movement, and has been able to recommend readings to put her approach in context. She views sessions as a dialogue and has demonstrated a lot of respect for my knowledge base. She has a willingness to partner on issues rather than prescribe a singular way forward, and always to help me understand what is going on, what is compensating for what, and how the mind and body are integrated in problems that most would characterize as one or the other. I have the highest regard for her as a practitioner.— A, Medical Doctor

While in the midst of multiple major life transitions, I found Toni Craige's web site. Her holistic approach really resonated with me because I wanted to address both physical and mental health challenges. I knew my root problems were at the overlap between mind-body. Then I "threw my back out" - one of those injuries that came from a mundane regular non-traumatic event, but that left me unable to stand or walk without assistance for a couple of days and impacted my movement for a couple of weeks. In the same time frame, I had to decide whether to commit to a ski trip across the country that would be in a few months. In addition to providing very good massage work, Toni taught me several gentle stretching and movement exercises along with education on how the body works. Also, we talked about ways that some of my mental habits were causing unnecessary stress on my body and how to correct that. I went ahead and booked the ski trip, and then worked with Toni to be ready for it. I skied much better than last season with much more comfort and endurance. Even after skiing full days, I never felt the need to take pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Along the way, family and friends have noted my improved posture and energy. I hadn't realized how much chronic pain I had just grown accustomed to, or how much it was limiting my life. Now the chronic pain is almost entirely gone. I feel better than I have in many years, and I'm pursuing new physical activities as well as re-engaging in old favorites. I wouldn't have been able to make my journey to better health on my own. Certainly not through a health system that would require me to navigate many different specialized and separate services. As I tell my own friends and family, if you are feeling stuck with chronic pain, give Toni a call and see if you can find a way out! — M, Computer Programmer

I came to see Toni because despite an incredible amount of improvement of coping skills in talk therapy, I was still experiencing somatic symptoms of trauma and high levels of stress and anxiety. For me that meant, feeling disconnected from my body and having body pain in my feet, neck, and shoulders. Since starting my healing journey with Toni, I’ve been able to learn new ways of connecting to body and becoming more aware of when my body contracts or feels discomfort right away. Through our body work on the table and with sound, I am now able to notice when my body starts to ache and can invite myself to choices to stretch, massage, or move my body in a way back to comfort. While I continue to grow in talk therapy for coping skills and cognitive processing, I now have a way to help my body keep with my healing journey instead of feeling left behind. 10/10 recommend seeing Toni if you’re ready for mind and body connection. — K, Community Organizer

I've had a lot of experience with psychotherapy and other forms of personal growth work and am accustomed to often feeling that I am retraveling the same ground and repeating the same patterns. It's been amazing to experience the embodied work taking me to a place that the more cognitive work never could alone-- I am in a very different place from where I was over a year ago. I’m much better at dropping into my body, observing rather than reacting to emotions, and I’m folding significantly more physical activity into my usual routines. The synergy of Toni's work plus my other supports and practices has been powerful. So, if you are thinking about it, book an appointment! — V, Manager

When I first connected with Toni, I was looking for some sort of restorative healing work for my mind and body. For many years, I have suffered from neck and back pain without much relief. I tend to function only from my head and have lost connection with my physical body, despite the chronic pain I experience. My past has brought trauma and anxiety making it very difficult to re-establish trust with my body. My hope was that Toni would be able to support my journey back to my true self and address my nagging pain. During our first couple of sessions, Toni worked to ease my neck and back pain, giving me stretches to try at home. She used the tuning forks and cupping therapy, all while explaining her every move. I felt very comfortable on her table and under her care. Toni is a very centered, kind, non-judgmental therapist, who is present and warm. She is talented in her work, not just with her hands, but with various healing instruments to provide relief. Her deep knowledge of muscles and bones, as well as Chinese healing arts, makes her extra qualified. I value and trust Toni completely. She has resolved the major pain in my neck; no one has been able to do this! My back is on the mend now and I continue to work with Toni around my self trusting abilities. I would highly recommend Toni to anyone that needs relief from body pain, but also support for self embodiment and care. — E, Administrative Assistant
